Who's enjoying the peeks of sun today?! It's mostly sunny for some, and mostly cloudy for others. All depends how far east/west you live. Regardless, nice to see! Temperatures stay in the 20s today... but still expecting 30s to near 40° this week!
Raise your hand if you're in the mood for a bit of a thaw? Nothing TOO crazy that would lead to substantial flooding, but enough to lower that snow depth a bit! Highs make a run into the lower 40s early week. Unlike 2018 with all of that major flooding, I am NOT expecting a ton of rain to fall on the current snow/frozen soil. That's great news.
Winter will return later this month, but for now, I have a felling many are OK with a reprieve. 🙂
LIGHT SNOW TONIGHT: A very weak clipper moves through the area after midnight & before sunrise, dropping a quick 1" (possibly up to 2") across the area. This will not be super impactful, but wanted to give a quick heads up for those early birds heading to breakfast, church, etc. Most is out of here by sunrise.

Good morning, happy Saturday! It's a cold start with most of us in the single digits. Some lake effect snow showers out there. Nothing major (by lake effect standards), but roads DEFINITELY will be slick in some areas after yesterday's brief thaw (that is clearly refrozen now).
A few peeks of sun today, but many will be locked under the typical lake effect clouds.

PSA! The 30s we had today are now a thing of the past. 20s this evening, 10s tonight and single digits by early AM. Any standing water/slush will rapidly freeze this evening.
Be careful on untreated roads, sidewalks etc. Also... terrible for the roads in general -- this is about as good as it gets for pothole development. 🙁
Wow!! It feels SO mild out, even if it's only middle 30s. The last time we were above freeze was January 21. Don't get too comfy outside -- much colder in a few hours.

HOLY COW HEATWAVE: Ok... I am being a bit dramatic here (clearly ready for some South Bend Cubs & Chicago Cubs baseball!!), but for the first time in nearly 400 hours... many of us ARE ABOVE FREEZING!! WOW! It feels AMAZING out there, ha!!
Granted... it will last about 2-3 hours before we tank to near 0° tonight with wind chills near -15°. But, hey, positive thinking from Harry Caray! 🙂
